Discover Punta Cana in Dominican Republic

So you have a boring life with a boring 9 to 5 job. But when it comes to your holidays, you are looking for the best! And what can be more relaxing than to spend a few days far away from your daily routine, on a warm and sunny tropical beach? If this is the kind of holiday you are dreaming of, then Punta Cana bavaro can be the perfect destination!
Punta Cana is a part of the Punta Cana – Bávaro county found in the Eastern side of the Dominican Republic and it is famous for its sunny beaches and complex resorts. It is a wanted tourist destination for more than 40 years now with a great weather (an average temperature of 30o C – 86o F), lots of wonderful hotels and resorts and very hospitable people. The waters around here are mainly shallow allowing tourists to swim with no dangers at all. There are plenty of beaches to choose from, and some of the most famous are: Bavaro, Arena Gorda, Uvero Alto, Cabeza de Toro and Juanillo, and now you can kitesurfing in Punta Cana

The nearest airport is the Punta Cana International Airport, which is one of the busiest from the Caribbean. It was build in 1984 to facilitate tourism and since then it receives millions of tourists each year. After a 30 minutes drive from the airport, you will get to Punta Cana and check in at the resort of your choice. There are many to choose from, each one trying to offer the best services you could possibly get. The first ever made is the Puntacana Resort and Club and other famous ones would be the Cap Cana, the Roko Ki, the Palma Real Villas or the developing Punta Perla. The area also includes plenty of stores, malls, restaurants, clubs and anything you might need to have a great time!
Besides laying on the beach all day, you could also take part in various activities offered by Punta Cana. There are plenty of tours organized in the area, boat trips, scuba diving and all sorts of water sports that you could try. Among them you will find sailing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, kayaking or snorkeling. Most of the resorts are also offering private swimming pools, tennis courts, horseback riding and some of the most spectacular golf courts you will ever see.

It’s not like you can ever get bored with these kind of activities, but if you also like history and sightseeing you could travel to Santo Domingo found nearby. It is the capital of the Dominican Republic and a great city with a rich history and with plenty of things to visit. Among others you can see the Catedral Santa Maria Le Menor, the Plaza de la Cultura, the Palacio Nacional, the Fortaleza Ozama and lots of other museums and historical buildings.

Punta Cana was even included in the “Top 100 places to visit before you die” made by the University of California, Los Angeles. So if you ever get there, don’t forget to share the wonderful experience with us!

Beaches in dominican Republic

The beaches in the Dominican Republic are unspoiled Caribbean jewels that sparkle in the island sun. The country boasts almost 800 miles of coastline, featuring some of the most stunning sands in the Caribbean. With so many beaches on one island, vacationers will never have to search for great surf and sand.

Sugary white sands and crystalline blue waters are just a few reasons to visit any of the Dominican Republic’s pristine beaches. In addition to the ample sunshine and powdery sands, an assortment of watersports are available at many of the island’s beaches. Also, because the Caribbean’s tourism industry is mainly focused on other islands in the region, vacationers won’t have to deal with heavy crowds, which gives beachgoers a truly relaxing time on the island’s seashores.

The beaches of the Dominican Republic vary greatly in their individual characteristics and overall appeal. You can find beaches all along the island, but here are some of the more popular areas:

The small colonial town of Puerto Plata is one of the island’s top beach destinations. Visitors come to this area mainly for the brilliant beaches, which consist of soft white sands and aquamarine waters. These clear blue waters are home to an offshore coral reef formation that is an excellent place for snorkeling. The coastal area in Puerto Plata also has a good selection of beachfront accommodations. If you want to visit more secluded sands in this area, head over to Guarapito, which provides a wonderfully relaxing beach experience, complete with sunshine, peace, and quiet.

Heading east from Puerto Plata, you’ll find Sosúa, one of the island’s small fishing villages. Though the town doesn’t have a lot to offer, the beaches here are truly amazing. The locals say that the beaches at Sosúa are some of the most beautiful in the Dominican Republic.

The northern shores of the Dominican Republic are famous for kitesurfing especially in Cabarete. These northern beaches feature steady winds, making them ideal for this sport. Located about 25 minutes from Puerto Plata, Cabarete is easy to reach, so vacationers should have no problems getting to these shores. An annual windsurfing competition is held in Cabarete every June, so you can enjoy a little competition while catching some amazing winds and waves.

Samaná is another popular beach area on the island. Located on the Samaná Peninsula, the weather here is exceptionally good, the sands are snowy white, and the waters are crystal clear. A few small villages are situated along these shores, and this area only about an hour from Puerto Plata. From December to March, boats will take vacationers on whale watching excursions, where whales can be spotted mating and calving. Yachts from all over the world visit this harbor during the winter months, creating a colorful display against the blue Caribbean waters. While visiting the beaches at Samaná, keep in mind that there may not be a life guard on duty and the undertows here can be extremely dangerous.

Probably the most popular beach destinations for tourists is Punta Cana, where many of the island’s top beachfront resorts are located. Along with amazing oceanfront scenery, there are plenty of places for entertainment and activities along these beaches. Numerous bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and shops edge the sands here, so you can find plenty to do after spending the afternoon on the gorgeous beaches.

The undeveloped region ofBarahona, also known as the”Pearl of the South,” is unique. Unlike much of the island’s other coastal property, the development of beach resorts has not spoiled its beautiful beaches like bahia de las Aguilas, Playa San Raphael . In Barahona, the beaches are amazing and the waters are superb, creating the perfect beach experience without the hustle and bustle of more crowded shores.

Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic’s capital city, is also home to several popular beaches. A few of Santo Domingo’s beaches feature perfectly calm shallow waters, such as at Boca Chica, and are very popular with families. Other beaches are frequented by vacationers who enjoy bathing in the sultry island sun. Still others boast plenty of activities such as sailing, diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, and much more.

Other lovely beaches are located throughout the Dominican Republic in places such as Azua, Baní, La Altagracia, Miches, Montecrist, Pedernales, Río San Juan, San Cristóbal, and San Pedro de Macorís. All of these areas have different styles of beaches, but all have one thing in common: their breathtaking natural beauty has remained relatively unspoiled.

Whether you’re looking to stay near a beach, or looking to find a beach near where you’re staying, you’ll have plenty of options in the Dominican Republic. To learn more about individual beaches, click on the links below.

Nicaragua

Land of Lakes and Volcanoes

Nicaragua takes its name from Nicarao, chief of the indigenous tribe then living around present-day Lake Nicaragua. A friendly and peaceful country that at times, received an undue share of negative press, Nicaragua is really one of the safest places to visit in Central America. With more than a decade of political stability, this democracy has moved steadily forward, leaving behind the war-torn ’80′s, remembered as one more chapter in it’s turbulent past.

The nickname “land of lakes and volcanoes” describes this beautiful and fascinating country well. Two great lakes, Xolotlán (Lake Managua) and Cocibolca (Lake Nicaragua) occupy roughly 10 percent of the countries surface area, and are the largest in Central America. Running nearly parallel to the pacific coast is a chain of 58 volcanoes, six of which are active. The country also boasts the longest rivers in Central America, vast coastal lagoons, and hundreds of miles of sea coast. As the largest and lowest Central American country, Nicaragua is essentially an emerging “land bridge” between Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Centrally located between North and South America, Nicaragua has benefited from the astonishing blend of flora and fauna from the two continents.

Nicaragua Economy

Nicaragua is primarily an agricultural country, but construction, mining, and general commerce also have been expanding strongly during the last few years. Rapid expansion of the tourist industry has made it the nations third largest source of foreign exchange. Northern Nicaragua is currently prime for real estate investment.

Nicaragua Culture

Nicaragua’s cultural wealth is without a doubt one of its major attributes. During your stay with Surf Tours Nicaragua we will take some time to explore the richness of its culture, filled with beauty and tradition. Its beautiful colonial cities will transport you to a bygone era. Besides friendly smiles and Nicaraguan hospitality, another “Nica” feature is the festive spirit. Myths, dances, music, and ritual make up Nicaraguan folklore. People often say having visited Nicaragua that the people are the reason that they would consider returning, and we couldn’t agree more!

Nicaragua is one of those places that offers everything a traveling surfer could want. There is consistent year round surf, warm water, and a chance to surf a great break all by yourself. Its also just a couple of hours from The United States and just up the road from Costa Rica so you do not have to go half way round the world to find epic surf. Nicaragua does suffer from an image problem. Its an image that is does not deserve. The people are very friendly and outside of Managua their is little crime or public safety issues. In fact this secret is now getting out and travelers looking to get a change of scenery from Costa Rica’s popular beaches are making Nicaragua part of their visit to this part of the world.

The truly amazing weather all seasons lengthy and wind from December to May were an excellent start. The kite spots on Sal have something for everybody: the Kite Beach with side-onshore wind and small wind waves.

Santa Maria Beach with fairly well conditions for novices – though not completely perfect, because of water depth – and freestylers. For that more adventurous, you will find world-class wave spots (first and foremost, the waves at Ponta Preta to be sure in the a lot of videos circulating around).

There’s nearly no better spot to learn wave kiting than Cape Verde.

Kitesurf and Kitespot Info Cape Verde / Sal

The options of kitespots are astounding knowing what to do.

You will find spots with side-onshore wind and small wind waves for intermediate kiters around the eastern, windward side from the island. This is where you’ll discover the so-known as Kite Beach where there’s presently a little wooden structure just like a beach bar. Right now, you will find license methods being carried out with this beach for any modern kite station by Mitu and Djo with a decent beach bar and anything else you’ll need. Set up political cogs turn fast enough with this in the future true by next months are another question, so not good forecasts about Kitesurf Center Sal can be created.

Santa Maria within the south is a superb beginner cove with flat water, so even freestyle kiters obtain money’s worth. The western a part of Santa Maris can also be where Mitu and Djo’s professional kite school is situated. This is the only real spot to kite within the bay of Santa Maria since the wind is available in side-shoreline to side-onshore.

Around the western corner from the bay, there’s also a great wave place that is only suggested for individuals who are able to really kitesurfing because of the offshore wind. For individuals who aren’t brave enough to visit out completely in to the wave of Ponta Preta within the western area of the island, you need to still read this place watching other kiters rip with the waves.

Alternative activities

Here we wish to provide you with a short term-through of other local activities. The primary attraction around the island is certainly kite surfing, but Sal has more to provide.

Surfing

Knowing anything concerning the waves around Sal, you are able to leave your kite both at home and check out the waves with no wind.

SUP – Fully Stand Up Paddle

The various spots around Sal with more compact waves and shallow water are ideal for SUP.

Windsurfing

The Angulo Beach Club is the “ baby” of Claudia and Josh Angulo who met on the shores of Ponta Preta in Jan. of 1998. Josh and Claudia’s passion for the ocean, family and the island lifestyle is strongly reflected in what has become a “must-visit” for all visitors and locals alike in the Cape Verde islands.

Diving

You will find several diving schools in Santa Maria which could get you on diving outings to create a little nearer to the underwater world.
